Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that in Syria there is a threat of provocations involving chemical weapons, reports RIA “Novosti”.
“Information about possible provocations with usage of toxic substances was just repeatedly. And, of course, its opublikovanie, of course, likely helped to avoid such provocations,” he said.
Peskov recalled that according to the agreement of the President of Russia and ex-President of USA Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama were working to eliminate stockpiles of chemical weapons from the Syrian authorities.
According to him, in Iraq, there were cases of use of chemical weapons and terrorists, that is, in their hands can be such toxic substances.
“Putin said that the threat of recurrence of such provocations, unfortunately, is still quite obvious,” – said the spokesman.
Earlier, Putin said that there is no evidence of the use by the military of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of chemical weapons in Idlib province.
The Minister of defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu said that the office was unsure of the nature of the staging of reports on the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
