In orbit, the ISS found a viable terrestrial bacteria

In Roscosmos told about the results of the space experiment “Test”.

In orbit the International space station (ISS) detected spores of terrestrial organisms survive in space. This was stated by the representatives of Roscosmos.

Russian cosmonauts during spacewalks collected samples of cosmic dust from the surface of the station. This was done in the framework of the space experiment “Test”. It lasted from 2010 to 2016.

As shown by further studies of smears in the samples was attended by representatives of typical terrestrial and marine genera of bacteria.

Based on the obtained data, the specialists included in the Roskosmos research Institute, the Institute and scientists of leading scientific institutions of the country, I propose to raise the upper limit of the Earth’s biosphere. Now it is at an altitude of 20 kilometers. It is proposed to increase it to 400 kilometers.

According to scientists, marine and terrestrial microorganisms appeared on the hull of the ISS due to the so-called “ionospheric lift”. This mechanism transfers the tropospheric aerosol from the surface of the Earth to the upper ionosphere.
