Moscow expects Brussels ‘ concrete guarantees for the implementation of the project of the second line of the pipeline “Turkish stream”, not to repeat the sad experience of the “South stream”. This was stated by Deputy foreign Minister Alexey Meshkov, RIA Novosti reported.
“We can not disturb the attempts of some EU institutions to derail energy projects in Europe with Russian participation, it is first and foremost about the project “Nord stream-2″,” — said the diplomat. He noted that there are ambiguities on the part of the European Commission in respect of the second string of the gas pipeline “Turkish stream”, which will target consumers in South and South-Eastern Europe.
May 7, Gazprom started construction of the offshore section of the gas pipeline “Turkish stream”. The first line is designed to supply gas to Turkish consumers.
The capacity of the first and second strings of the “Turkish stream” must be at 15,75 billion cubic meters. The construction of the pipeline will be finished by the end of 2019.
In December 2014, Russia announced the termination of work on South stream, which would pass through the territory of Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary in favor of a new pipeline to Turkey.
