NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to be held in Brussels the summit of the Alliance, told reporters that strengthening the Alliance of their defense is “a response to Russia’s actions”. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“What NATO is doing, is balanced, is defensive in nature and is a proportionate response to Russia’s actions,” — said Stoltenberg on the question of whether the increase in the defence budgets of the NATO countries to a new arms race.
However, he noted that the organization “strives for a better and more constructive relationship with Russia.” Stoltenberg said that NATO confirmed its approach in relations with Moscow — the “strong defense, along with meaningful dialogue.”
The head of the Alliance pointed out that in this matter among all members of the organization there is cohesion, which is “stronger than ever”.
Relations between Russia and NATO is seriously complicated in the spring and summer of 2014, after the annexation of Crimea to Russia and accused Moscow of meddling in the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
