Arrested stole more than 50 million rubles hackers

Moscow. May 22. INTERFAX.RU the Police detained 20 participants of an interregional group, which kidnapped more than 50 million rubles from citizens through contamination of more than 1 million smartphones malware, four of them were arrested.

This was reported by “Interfax” on Monday the official representative of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Russia Irina Wolf.

“It was established that the group included 20 people living on the territory of the Ivanovo, Moscow, Rostov, Chelyabinsk, Yaroslavl areas and the Republic of Mari El, and the organizer of illegal business is a 30-year-old resident of Ivanovo,” said Wolf.

“The band used a malicious software that allows to gain unauthorized access to smartphones, running one of the mobile operating systems. Then, using hidden SMS-commands, they are transferred to prepared accounts,” said Wolf.

The interior Ministry did not specify from which accounts the funds were stolen.

“In respect of the four detainees the court elected a measure of restraint in form of detention in relation to the others — recognizance not to leave. On the territory of six regions of Russia conducted 20 searches, during which seized computer equipment, hundreds of Bank cards and SIM cards issued on figureheads,” said Wolf.

She added that during the illegal activities of the detainees has infected a Trojan horse more than 1 million smartphones, and the damage from their activities exceeded 50 million rubles.

A criminal case under part 4 of article 159.6 of the criminal code (fraud in the sphere of computer information).
