Leonid Slutsky

The Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Leonid Slutsky has urged the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Parliament to condemn Kiev’s decision about blocking the Russian social networks and other Internet services. It is reported TASS on Wednesday, 17 may.

In his opinion, organizations need to demand from Ukraine to cancel such “unlawful decision”. “Kiev is like a mantra, repeats the words about democracy in Ukraine, which in fact the country does not even smell,” — said the MP.

As an adequate response to the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, I cited the words of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe thorbjørn Jagland, who, in particular, stated that the restrictions imposed contrary to generally accepted understanding of freedom of expression and freedom of media.

“In the West, finally, sounds sensible assessment of the actions of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who in his Russophobic hysteria completely abandoned all international norms and standards”, — said the Deputy.

May 16, Slutsky, commenting on the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions expressed confidence that this step will not be able “to separate the peoples” of Russia and Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has approved the expanded restrictions against Russia earlier on Tuesday. Restrictions you want to impose, in particular, Mail.Ru Group, social networks “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”. In addition, will be blocked by the service “Yandex” and restricted the broadcasting of several television stations.
