Ukraine expanded sanctions against Russia

KIEV, may 16 — RIA Novosti. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) on the expanded list of individuals and legal entities of the Russian Federation, in respect of which the sanctions, this decision also extended the duration of sanctions, said in published on Tuesday a presidential decree on his website.

Earlier, the Ukrainian media wrote that in April, the government has proposed the national security and defense Council of Ukraine to extend sanctions against Russia.

“According to article 5 of the law of Ukraine “On sanctions”, the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine decided to support the proposals on the extension and use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions), submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the security Service of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine”, — stated in the decree of the President.

In the annexes to the decision of the Council indicated that the expanded sanctions list imposed by Ukraine against Russia, entered 1228 468 individuals and legal entities. Against legal entities, the validity of sanctions is extended from one year to three years for individuals for periods of one year, three years, five years or indefinitely.
