Russia and Palestine continue to work to resolve the middle East problems, relations with Palestine to Moscow are of particular importance, said the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
On Thursday, Putin met with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in his Sochi residence.
“Relations with Palestine for us are very special and have a special significance,” he said. “For many years we are working together on one of the key problems of the modern world over the settlement of the middle East”, — said the President of the Russian Federation.
Putin noted that in the framework of participation in the opening ceremony of cultural and sports center in Bethlehem, it was about the deep roots of relations between Russia and Palestine. “But in recent history our relationship was always very warm and trusting,” said the Russian leader.
“I want to thank you, Mr. President, for the attention you have given Russian-Palestinian relations, for the support of our compatriots who are living in Palestine and who come as pilgrims to the Holy places” — appealed to Putin to Abbas.
The Russian President said that he expects that the visit of the Palestinian leader, in Russia will be productive.
