MOSCOW, may 10. /TASS/. The idea of a tax on small families is wrong, harmful and is aimed at the discrimination of the Russians. This opinion was expressed to journalists the member of the Federation Council, the Chairman of the Commission of the upper chamber for the preparation of proposals on improvement of the Family code of the Russian Federation Elena Mizulina.
On Wednesday it became known that the Institute of demography, migration and regional development of Russia has sent President Vladimir Putin a draft concept of the Federal law “On the status of large families”, which provides for including the introduction of a tax on small families.
Any initiative to impose tax on small families, childlessness seem to me to be erroneous and harmful. According to the Senator, the emphasis should be on support rather than discrimination of certain categories.
“It is important to understand that, in accordance with the Russian legislation, small families is 1-2 children. A tax on small families seems to me a kind of provocation, because thanks to the measures of state social policy the last time 60-70% of births in some Russian regions, is the second children. And now we are invited to impose their tax?! I am categorically against this initiative!” — said Mizulina.
