The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson has held a phone conversation, during which discussed the situation in Syria. This was reported on the Russian MFA website.
The conversation took place on may 5 at the American initiative. It is noted that the focus was on the Syrian settlement.
“In the light of the outcome of the international meeting on Syria in Astana on may 3-4, discussed the goals of de-escalation of the situation in this country, the sustainability of the ceasefire, increased efforts in the fight against terrorism, activization of external assistance to the inter-Syrian negotiation process”, – stated in the message.
They also touched on some other regional issues and the bilateral agenda.
“The two sides agreed on further Russian-American contacts,” – said the foreign Ministry.
Last phone conversation Tillerson and Lavrov took place on 1 may.
