The European Council failed to adopt a common final document of the summit

The European Council uniting the heads of state and government of the EU could not take a common final document of the summit endorsed the conclusions by the chair with the support of the 27 EU countries, said the official representative of the President of the European Council Donald Tusk, Preben Aamann.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Poland Beata Szydlo said that her country would not support the summit outcome document in connection with the re-election of Donald Tusk to the presidency of the European Council against the wishes of Warsaw to postpone the election.

“Spring meeting of the European Council completed. The conclusion of the President of the European Council, supported by 27 delegations, will be published soon,” wrote Hamann on Twitter.

Conclusions of the European Council are taken unanimously. They EU leaders secured a position on special interest issues and determine further actions to solve them. The conclusion can serve as the political basis for the elaboration of normative documents of the European Union.
