The lower house of the Dutch Parliament approved the EU Association and Ukraine
MOSCOW, 23 Feb — RIA Novosti. The lower house of the Dutch Parliament on Thursday confirmed ratification of the Association agreement with Ukraine, reports the news online “European truth”.
It is noted that for the ratification of the agreement voted 89 of the 150 deputies of the chamber.
In turn, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed hope that the Senate of the Netherlands ratifies the Association agreement.
Earlier, the Association agreement of Ukraine with the EU was ratified by the parliaments of all member countries of the European Union, except the Netherlands, which suspended ratification after the results of the April referendum in which the majority of voters opposed the agreement. Today, the contract is valid on a provisional basis, the final document will enter into force after its ratification by all 28 EU countries.
The government of the Netherlands after consultations with the leadership of the EU submitted a proposal on the ratification of the Association agreement to the Parliament in late January. Prime Minister of the Netherlands earlier predicted that the document would be approved before the elections to the lower house of the Dutch Parliament, which will be held in the country on March 15.
