Foreign Ministry reacted to the statements of Russian interference in the Affairs of Montenegro
MOSCOW, 22 Feb — RIA Novosti. Moscow calls baseless allegations about Russian intervention in the internal Affairs of Montenegro, said the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“The Chairman of the government of Montenegro, Mr. Markovic, could not resist to join and also to participate in the use of widely used in recent U.S. and EU thesis and accused Moscow and some Russian intelligence services meddling in the electoral processes in this country. Spectracolor (Montenegro) Mr. (Milivoje) Catnic went further, tried this idea to develop, mentioned the presence on the Montenegrin territory “of the FSB special forces”” she said.
“All these statements are absolutely groundless, unfortunately, they are duplicated by the media, in principle, without consideration for Russia’s position. If the Russian position is mentioned, it is casual and, of course, disproportionately to the amount of information that is laid out on the basis of distributed data”, — said the official representative of the foreign Ministry.
Earlier, the special Prosecutor of Montenegro Catnic in a speech in Montenegrin broadcast the “First channel” (TV Prva) stated that some of the “Russian authorities” allegedly was involved in the coup attempt during the elections in the country in October last year to prevent the accession of Montenegro to NATO. According to him, such conclusions based on the testimony of defendants and their data conversations. Subsequently, the Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called such allegations unfounded.
