The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemns Putin’s decree on the recognition of documents of the residents of Donbass
KYIV, 18 Jul — RIA Novosti. The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemns the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the recognition of documents issued on the territory not controlled by Kiev authorities of the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, said in a Saturday statement the foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the recognition in Russia of the documents issued to citizens of Ukraine and stateless persons residing in the territories of separate districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine, until the political settlement of the situation in these areas.
“Ukraine strongly condemns and does not recognize adoption by the Kremlin decree on the recognition of the so-called documents issued on the territory of certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine”, — said in a statement.
The Ukrainian foreign Ministry regarded this decision of Russia, “as de facto recognition of the illegal authorities in the Donbas.” Ukrainian foreign Ministry believes that Russia “has once again violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, its international obligations, fundamentally violates the Minsk agreement”.
The Ukrainian side calls upon the international partners “to increase pressure on Russia with a view to steady implementation of the Minsk agreements and return in international law”.
Earlier, Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on the decree, said that he will act until you complete the Minsk agreement. He stressed that “the decree clearly says that we are guided by purely humanitarian considerations.”
The first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Vladimir Jabbarov said that the decree in no way does not speak about Russia’s recognition of independence of the DNI and the LC, this is a temporary measure caused by the fact that the Ukrainian authorities stopped issuing the documents to the residents of Donbas.
