Prime Minister of Serbia decided to run for President
Moscow. 17 Feb. INTERFAX.RU Prime Minister of Serbia Alexander Vucic made the decision to participate in the presidential race, said on Friday the local newspaper “the Blitz”.
Vucic said that his party colleagues wanted to see his candidacy among the contenders for the post of President of Serbia, and he decided to run because “the country needs stability, jobs, investment, hospitals.” The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the supporters who supported his decision with applause.
“I thank you for your support and we are proud of you, because we are in the last four to five years ruled the country from the verge of bankruptcy,” — he said at a meeting of the main Committee of the Serbian progressive party.
Currently, the post of President of Serbia in may 2012, Tomislav Nikolic. The next presidential elections will take place in 2017. According to the Constitution, the President is elected for five years and may be re-elected for a second term. Earlier it was reported that Nikolic may become Ambassador to Russia, if not to be re-elected for a second term.
