Created the program to recognize the muzzle of lemurs
The development team has created a system of recognition of faces of the lemurs. About the done work they reported in the journal BMC Zoology
The system is called LemurFaceID. It recognizes individuals for photos, which allows researchers to create a database of lemurs in Madagascar and study them.
This is necessary for evolutionary studies and conservation efforts of the environment
Evolutionary studies need data of individuals throughout life. In addition, using LemurFaceID you can monitor the illegal trade in lemurs, which in the wild have very little.

The developers hope that it can be used to monitor other animals such as red pandas. This is a more humane method than chipping.
