Statement of the presidential adviser on the Internet Herman Klimenko on the need to limit the Internet in Russia do not reflect the official position of the Kremlin. This was stated press Secretary of President Dmitry Peskov, reports TASS on Thursday, January 26.
“In this case we are talking about a private forensic point of view,” — said the official representative of the Kremlin.
Earlier Thursday, Klimenko, speaking at the lecture, called the restriction of the Internet is the only way to ensure information security. “One way is the Chinese version. (…) China is less sensitive to public opinion, they evaluated the threat and limited the Internet. Now they have no such problems”, — he noted, speaking at the lecture “Information security of Russia”.
In late December, the presidential adviser on the Internet said that Russia should prepare for a possible disconnection from the global network. In his opinion, the country needs to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances, especially given the “tectonic shifts in the direction of deterioration” of relations with European countries.
