The head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov believes that a significant part of Ukrainians accepted the choice of the Crimean people and recognized the Peninsula as part of Russia. He told about it the newspaper “Izvestia”.
“I am sure that in Ukraine a considerable part of the people understands and accepts the choice of the Crimean people. But in terms of state terror, which is deployed by the Kiev regime, people are afraid to Express their opinion”, – said the newspaper Aksenov, adding that it was necessary to fight the propaganda of the “false media”.
He also noted that the Crimea would not prove the new us administration of their territorial belonging to Russia: “I don’t understand why Crimeans have to prove something to the Americans. We made the choice in March 2014. The Peninsula de facto and de jure the Russian. It does not depend on the position of foreign politicians and statesmen”.
On 11 January during hearings in the U.S. Senate candidate for the post of Secretary Rex Tillerson, in particular, stated that the United States can recognize the reunification of Crimea with Russia only on the basis of the development of “agreement, which would satisfy the Ukrainian people.”
He also stressed that it was important “to maintain the status quo” in respect of anti-Russian sanctions prior to the development of the new American administration “approach” in this issue.
