The family returned from North Korea to USA student refused autopsy
The family of an American student, Otto Warmbier, incarcerated in a North Korean prison and died shortly after returning to the US, refused to conduct the autopsy.
Otto Warmbier died Monday, June 19 at his home in Ohio. Prior to that, he spent 15 months in detention in North Korea.
According to the coroner, was conducted only an external examination of the body.
In a statement, the coroner stated that “at the moment there have been no conclusions on the causes of death of Otto Warmbier”.
The President of the United States Donald trump condemned the “brutal regime” of North Korea.
North Korea gave the 22-year-old Otto Warmbier the United States last week, saying that makes it “humanitarian grounds”. Warmer by this time presumably for about a year was in a coma.
His parents stated that the young man suffered “a terrible painful treatment”. In the end, Otto Warmbier, who was sent to prison for trying to steal a propaganda poster from the hotel, died at home, never regaining consciousness.
Trump said that Warmbier “bad things happened”, but added: “At least we were able to bring him home to his parents who were so happy to see him despite his very serious condition”.
Parents Otto Warmbier, Fred and Cindy, said their son died at 14:20 local time (21:20 Moscow time) on Monday in a Cincinnati hospital where he was treated.
“When Otto returned to Cincinnati on June 13, he could not speak, could not see, could not respond to the words. It was obvious he was very uncomfortable — almost in pain. Although we have not heard his voice, during the day his expression changed — he was calm. He was home, and we believe that he felt it”, — reads the statement of the family Otto.
North Korea claims that Warmbir contracted botulism, a rare illness that causes paralysis soon after the trials in March 2016. He was given sleeping pills, and since then he never left the coma.
However, the team of doctors who had treated Otto in Cincinnati, said that the young man showed no signs of botulism.
In their opinion he suffered from “severe neurological injury” of unknown origin. This injury led to extensive loss of brain tissue. Warmbir could open his eyes, but on what does not react.
