The head of the Russian government Dmitry Medvedev instructed to study the idea of moving the Ministry of construction, Ministry of economy, the Ministry of communications and Ministry of industry and trade of the 16 buildings in the city center in “Moscow-city” in the second half of 2018. Medvedev’s press Secretary Natalya Timakova confirmed “Kommersant” that “this project really is. Details are being worked out”.

The Prime Minister also instructed Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, Minister of economy Maxim Oreshkin and Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov “to study the idea of moving the Federal bodies of Executive power, having in mind primarily the minimization of costs for the maintenance of the departments, and the solution of organizational problems”.

According to the source, it is planned that the new building Department will occupy about 70 thousand square meters, which will save at least 1 billion roubles per year on utility costs. In addition, the creation of a single government complex will allow “to raise efficiency of state authorities”, “to create a positive image of state authority” and “to improve the work with citizens”.

The most probable place of accommodation of the governmental complex is a building complex “IQ-quarter” in “Moscow-city”. To reimburse relocation costs, officials planned to realize in the future the buildings that now occupy the Ministry.

This is not the first attempt of the ministries to move from the center of Moscow. In April 2012, Medvedev holding then a post of the President of Russia, instructed to prepare proposals on the transfer to the territory of the Big Moscow the Federal bodies of legislative, Executive and judicial power. However, the initiative, the cost of which was estimated at 500 billion roubles, and that has not been implemented.
