The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill spoke out against the enrichment of a small number of people in conditions of modern globalization, called for joint efforts to fight poverty in the world and to educate people.
In Danilov residence of the Patriarch on Thursday held an audience of heads of diplomatic missions of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean in the Russian Federation.
“It is clear that contemporary globalization strengthens the position of super-rich people, in whose hands are concentrated the enormous material resources, and therefore — and a lot of power, not controlled by any governments or Nations. And then the question arises: what is democracy, if the real power is not under the control of the people, and not even under government control,” — said the Patriarch.
According to him, the actions of this government “affects millions of people.” However, he noted that the theme of a socially oriented economy is very important for the governments of many Latin American countries.
“I think the future depends on how we can work together in order for the world to overcome poverty, to become more transparent the process of implementation of power in the world, and, of course, also very important is the education, education”, — said the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, addressing the heads of diplomatic missions.
According to him, unifying the Russians and the inhabitants of Latin America is, in particular, “a very sharp sense of justice and desire for freedom”.
“I am deeply convinced that we can make a joint contribution to the understanding of how to develop the world economy”, — said the Patriarch.
