Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron visited the exhibition “Peter the Great. The king of France. 1717” in the Grand Trianon Palace in Versailles. On Monday, may 29, reports “Interfax”.
“I thank the organizers and sponsors of the exhibition, confirming the historical, cultural and business ties between France and Russia. Connection looking to the future,” Putin wrote in the guest book after the tour.
At the end of the visit, the Russian President gave the Museum a copy of “Book of angels” — Reims gospel.
“This gospel on which the oath many French kings, When Peter I came to France, he was given the book, he opened it and began to read aloud. Because he knew the old Slavic and even served in the Church. Here we made a copy for the President and another copy we will leave here at Versailles,” — said Putin.
The Exhibition “Peter The Great. The king of France. 1717” opens to the public on may 30. It was prepared by the Hermitage to mark the 300th anniversary of the first visit of the Russian monarch in France.
Putin arrived on an official visit to Paris earlier on Monday. He held talks with Macron, which lasted about three hours.
