Most of Russians believe that President Vladimir Putin will run for another term in 2018. This is evidenced by the results of a survey of Fund “Public opinion” (FOM), which publishes RIA Novosti on Friday, may 19.
According to the data, this opinion is shared by 80 percent of respondents. Nine percent of respondents believe that the Russian leader plans to nominate his candidacy in the upcoming elections. 12 percent were undecided.
However, 46 percent of survey participants noted that the negative would have taken Putin’s statement that he will not run for another term. 35 percent would have accepted this news without much emotion, 14 percent positive, says FOM.
Pollsters also asked Russians about their attitude to the work of the President. Nine percent of respondents named Putin’s actions in the international arena and strong political position of his main contribution over the last year. Five percent commended its decisions in the social sphere. In addition, the merit of the President respondents ranked a military operation in Syria, the annexation and development of Crimea, policy towards Ukraine.
