Russian troops are upgrading in connection with the strengthening of the Arctic borders. This statement was made by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. His words RIA Novosti reported.
“Combat experience gained during the operation in the Syrian Arab Republic, the need to strengthen the Arctic territories and borders in the West and southwest demanded the refinement of approaches for upgrading troops,” — said Putin.
His statement Putin made at a meeting on the state defense order. The head of state noted that for the year 2016, the state defense order was fulfilled by 97%. All the troops received more than 5.6 thousand kinds of modern weapons, about three thousand units of equipment have been upgraded. Currently, the readiness of a fleet of modern equipment in the army is estimated at 58%. Putin instructed the military to increase the figure for 2017 to 62%.
