RT sent an open letter to Reuters

RT has published an open letter to Reuters, which says that the channel sends a formal complaint in relation to article Agency entitled “the United States is growing confidence that Russia has hacked the French election: sources”.

This material contains accusations against RT, which is based on the evidence of anonymous statements by some “American officials”. In particular, the article argues that RT while covering the elections in France were allegedly involved in distribution of fake news.

This statement was not backed up by any evidence. In addition, the RT for review Reuters has not addressed.

“There was no evidence that RT has ever spread false news about the Macron or the French elections: no articles, no quotes, no single publication in social networks. This is due to the fact that all such accusations are absolutely groundless”, — is spoken in the letter of the channel.

It is noted that Reuters publishes serious allegations against RT without due diligence materials for the fourth time in recent months.

“Because Reuters was unable to substantiate the allegations against RT charges, and also failed to provide RT the opportunity to respond before publication, we demand to release immediately the correction information on RT”, — underlined in the letter.

Earlier it became known that the MIA “Russia today” will not enter into a contract for the purchase of video content from Reuters after the Agency has published an article about the “Russian interference in American elections.”

On 20 April the chief editor of RT Margarita Simonyan commented published a Reuters article stating that the Russian Institute of strategic studies (RISS) supposedly developed the documents for a strategy of Moscow’s interference in the American elections in 2016.
