Moscow. May 15. INTERFAX.RU Patrol anti-submarine aircraft of the US Navy P-8A Poseidon on Sunday carried out a reconnaissance flight over the waters of the Mediterranean close to the Russian bases in Syria, according to data from Western sites, tracking movement of military aviation.
According to them, the us marine scout with a tail number 168440, taking off from Sigonella airbase in Sicily for a long time flew along the Syrian coast, where are situated the naval base of the Russian Navy in the port of Tartus and Hamim air base at Latakia.
Western observers suggest that this reconnaissance flight was connected with the visits of the cargo ship Varyag under the flag of Panama in Tartous cargo ship Rukia II under the flag of Tuvalu to Latakia, which was supposed to carry out from Novorossiysk delivery of weapons.
