The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov announced Moscow’s unwillingness to intervene in the debate about Russia in the EU. He told about it in interview to TV channel “Mir”.
“The current situation is not normal when some of our Western partners are trying to put ideological approaches above the interests of its citizens”, — said the head of Russian diplomacy. He added that, in his opinion, strengthens the trend away from such anomalies, however, the “aggressive minority tries to maintain the common position of the EU at the level of the lowest denominator”.
“I repeat, this subject is not sulky and don’t want to interfere in the internal discussion, but can see how they really evolve in the European Union”, — concluded Lavrov.
March 30, the biggest political force of the EU — the European people’s party (EPP) adopted a resolution on the results of the two-day Congress, held in Malta. In the document published on the website of the EPP, refers to the “undeclared war”, which Russia allegedly is against the liberal values of the West.
Member States of the European Union, USA and several other countries have introduced restrictive measures against Russia in 2014 and linking them with entry into the Russian Federation of the Crimea, and then — with the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine. In response, Moscow imposed a ban on food exports from most countries, which supported anti-Russian sanctions.
The abolition of restrictive measures Western countries linked to the implementation by Moscow of Minsk agreements — a package of measures to stabilize the situation in the South-East of Ukraine. The document, in particular, envisages a ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line of the warring parties, and constitutional reform in Ukraine.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that is not a party to the conflict, and the responsibility for the implementation of the agreements lies on the Kiev authorities. Also in Russia emphasize that the process of reunification of the Crimea is fully consistent with international norms.
