Netizens shared a video from Kursk region, in which lightning flashes and thunder rumbles over a snow-covered city. A snow storm was observed in the region on January 14.
This is a fairly rare meteorological phenomenon in which snow, freezing rain or ice croup falls instead of rain during a thunderstorm.
According to thermodynamics, a snow storm is no different from a normal thunderstorm, meteorologists say, but the upper part of a cumulonimbus cloud is usually quite low, and low temperatures turn drops into snowflakes. Most often this phenomenon is observed in the Great Lakes region in the USA and Canada.
