The developers have created Shazam for pictures
Smartify a new app will allow users to learn the history of the picture, just pointing the camera on her smartphone.
About it informs the portal New Scientist.
Museum exhibits, as a rule, are accompanied by a brief caption with the name of the Creator and title of a work of art. In order to know more about the sculpture or the painting, the visitor often have or book a tour that will be held for a particular program or to use the audio guide, the quality of which is not always satisfactory.
The new app uses augmented reality and image recognition system that allows a person to instantly obtain information about items of interest to the picture. It is enough to point the camera of the mobile device on a work of art, then the screen shows accompanying text. Especially liked the work of artists users will be able to save in a special gallery.
While Smartify you can use outside the Museum: the app recognizes the picture, even if it is printed on the card.
Despite the fact that some museums already have applications that contain descriptions of Museum exhibits, Smartify will work at the international level. As reported by the developers, for the launch of the programme in may, the database will store some of the artworks from the Paris Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum in new York and the entire art collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the London Wallace Collection.
In 2011, Google has launched a platform for Art Project, which allows to get acquainted with paintings by famous artists online. Today the site contains exhibits from more than 1,200 leading museums and archives, including works by Monet, Klimt, Gauguin and Carr. Last year, Google has completed work on cameras, which are designed to digitize paintings in high resolution. They will be provided to museums for free.
