On January 4, residents of Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the Khabarovsk Territory witnessed very bright light poles.
This beautiful optical phenomenon appears in severe frost, when tiny ice crystals in the air vertically reflect rays from ground-based light sources. When there are many pillars, a whole so-called light forest is formed.
Previously, impressive light poles were noticed inĀ Estonia. They appeared over the village of Simuna at a temperature of minus 16 degrees.
