“We highly appreciate the unwavering support of the president and his administration, and we know that they will support us from home in winter,” said the head of the Olympic Committee USA Sarah Hirschland.

Earlier, the decision of the USA to declare a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing was commented on by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The organization stressed that the presence of officials and diplomats is a purely political decision of each government, and the IOC, being politically neutral, recognizes this right. The committee approved that the participation of American athletes in the Olympics remains outside of politics.

On December 6, the press secretary of the US President Jen Psaki confirmed that the American leadership will not go to the Olympics in China. In this case, athletes will be able to independently decide on participation in the competition.
