Many hospitalized patients test positive for COVID-19. There are also Russians who have tested negative, but show symptoms of coronavirus. According to Popova, so far only two cases of the omicron strain have been confirmed. These patients are under medical supervision, she stressed.

In addition, in total, there are about 100 people who have arrived from South Africa to Russia in the observatory with suspected coronavirus.

Earlier, Popova said that the omicron strain of coronavirus can be brought to Russia from 50 countries. The chief sanitary doctor of Russia noted that the omicron strain is more infectious than the previous options, and recommended that Russians returning from abroad re-take coronavirus tests even with the first negative result.
