CNN: US may impose anti-Russian sanctions to avoid aggression against Ukraine
US President Joe Biden's administration will impose sanctions against Russia the allegedly impending invasion of Ukraine. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to CNN.
According to CNN sources, the Biden government is discussing anti-Russian sanctions with the governments of European countries. It is noted that the restrictions may affect both the entourage of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian energy companies. In addition, the possibility of disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT Internet network is being discussed.
The channel's message emphasizes that the sanctions may be the worst ever applied against countries hostile to the United States. The only exceptions will be restrictions against Iran and the DPRK.
Earlier, the US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan said that the Biden administration no longer wants to continue the sanctions policy against Russia. At the same time, he added that further actions of Washington will depend on the political steps of the Russian side.
