Former UFC champion Conor McGregor refused to consider Khabib Nurmagomedov great
Irish mixed documentary fighter (MMA) Conor McGregor argued with producer Anatomy of a Fighter by Will Harris on the legacy of Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov. The discussion is available on Twitter.
Harris stated in his post that Nurmagomedov never suffered from vanity, despite the fact that he is a great fighter. In response, 33-year-old McGregor noticed that the Russian was crying in the Octagon of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC), after which he topped the ranking of the best athletes in the organization. The Irishman emphasized that his withdrawal from single combats should automatically exclude fighters from the ratings, which did not happen in the case of Nurmagomedov.
In addition, McGregor refused to recognize the Russian and the former UFC champion as a great fighter. The Irishman explained the reason, citing as arguments that Nurmagomedov rarely finished fights with a knockout, never tried to compete in other weight categories, while he had a hard time in weight races for the sake of his division. Also, as McGregor notes, Nurmagomedov does not use kicks.
Harris and McGregor politely ended the discussion, avoiding mutual insults. The Irishman admitted that he follows the work of the producer and praised him highly.
Nurmagomedov is a former UFC lightweight champion. He defended the belt three times, defeating McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gage.
McGregor became the champion of the UFC in two weight classes.
