Mother of ex-President Saakashvili Alasania: my son's presence in Georgia is very unsafe that his stay in his home country is unsafe. She called for the return of the politician to Ukraine on the air of the Ukraine TV channel.
Alasania stressed that her son is not in the best condition. She said that she left the meeting with him in dejected feelings, because the politician did not look very good. The ex-president's mother admitted that she is uneasy and fearful for his fate.
“I believe that my son's presence in Georgia is very unsafe for him. And I appeal to all of you with a request to somehow help bring him back to Ukraine. After all, at present he is a citizen of Ukraine, “Alasania stressed.
Earlier, Georgia ruled out the transfer of Saakashvili to Ukraine. According to Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, this is out of the question, as is the early release of the politician.
On November 29, Saakashvili was taken from the Gori military hospital, where he is undergoing treatment after a 50-day hunger strike, to the Tbilisi City Court. The ex-president first appeared in public after his arrest on October 1. Saakashvili is accused of involvement in the violent actions of the police and special services, as a result of which hundreds of demonstrators were hospitalized with moderate and severe injuries. Supporters of Saakashvili came to the courthouse to support him.
