Poultry farmers will begin to vaccinate chickens

Kommersant: Rospitsesoyuz proposed to allow poultry farmers to vaccinate chickens against bird flu of this virus in factories. Kommersant writes about this with reference to Galina Bobyleva, general director of the Rospotitssoyuz. According to veterinarians, products from vaccinated poultry are not harmful to humans.

She said that on November 30, the Rospotitssoyuz made a proposal to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to allow industry enterprises to vaccinate the breeding herd, reproducers of the first and second order against highly pathogenic avian influenza. As Albert Davleev, President of Agrifood Strategies, explained, second-order reproducers are parent flocks that produce hatching eggs for commercial fattening or for egg production. First-order reproducers supply poultry for parent farms.

Now vaccination of birds is allowed only in personal subsidiary plots (PSH), and the regions themselves decide whether to carry it out or not.

The Ministry of Agriculture noted that ten regions at once announced plans to vaccinate birds in 2022. At the same time, the low efficiency of the procedure is noted, since it is impossible to provide one hundred percent vaccination of the entire herd in private household plots. According to Rosselkhoznadzor, in 2021, five outbreaks of bird flu were recorded at enterprises, which led to the extermination of 4.5 million birds. In particular, because of this, in the first nine months of 2021, poultry production fell by 1.4 percent to 4.07 million tons.

Experts are confident that vaccination of the breeding herd will quickly restore the production cycle after outbreaks of the disease. at the same time, vaccination will not affect the quality of products and the benefits of its consumption for humans.

The interlocutor of Kommersant noted that now vaccination against highly pathogenic influenza at industrial enterprises for the production of poultry is prohibited, since vaccinated individuals are more often asymptomatic, and the strain obtained from the vaccine is often difficult to distinguish from that obtained in the field.

At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture notes that vaccination of poultry against influenza can limit the export of Russian products, since in many countries access to foreign markets for vaccinated products is closed. At the same time, it is noted that the export ban will lead to an oversupply in the domestic market and pressure on prices in the country, and low profitability will force a number of enterprises to close.

Earlier it was reported that retail chains had notified the Ministry of Industry and Trade of plans to raise prices for chicken meat and eggs. The head of the National Meat Association, Sergei Yushin, explained the situation with an increase in purchase prices for the product. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture explained that the change in prices on the poultry market remains within the seasonal trends, and the situation itself is stable.
