Omicron strain found in another country

The Ministry of Health of Tunisia announced the first infection with the omicron strain COVID-19 in the country writes RIA Novosti.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tunisia announced the first case of a new variant of COVID-19. The Omicron strain was found on a 23-year-old citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo who arrived in Tunisia on December 1 from the Turkish capital Istanbul. The Ministry of Health also said that today more than 717 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Tunisia.

On December 3, it became known that a new omicron strain of coronavirus infection had already been identified in 38 countries of the world, but the delta strain remains dominant. It is noted that the main increase in infections is observed in Africa.
