Kiev told Germany how to “punish” Russia in the event of an invasion of Ukraine

Ukrainian Ambassador Melnyk told future German Chancellor Scholz how to deal with Moscow due to the allegedly existing plans of Moscow's military aggression. The corresponding request was sent by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin, Andriy Melnik, to the future German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The information is transmitted by Sputnik.

According to Melnik, in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, Germany is obliged to impose an embargo on the export of gas, oil, coal and other raw materials from Russia and prohibit any kind of German investment in Russia. In addition, Berlin was called on to freeze all Russian assets abroad, as well as to facilitate the disconnection of Russia from SWIFT. The representative of Kiev demanded to prepare the document by December 8.

“Only such a threat can promptly prevent a new war in the center of Europe,” Melnik said. The reaction of the German authorities to the Ukrainian proposals is still unknown.

Some Ukrainian politicians seriously fear the start of a large-scale Russian invasion of the country this winter. Recently, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Aleksey Reznikov suggested that Moscow would begin an operation against Kiev at the end of January 2022.

Earlier, Melnik had already addressed the German leadership with unusual requests. At the end of November, he demanded reparations from Germany for the cultural damage caused by the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. The rather harsh actions of Ukraine against Germany are associated with the reluctant opposition of German politicians to the Russian project Nord Stream 2.
