Ministry of Health to release a list of contraindications for vaccination against coronavirus

Izvestia: a list of contraindications to vaccination may appear in mid-December

An extended list of contraindications to vaccination against coronavirus infection may appear in December. This is reported by Izvestia with reference to sources close to the healthcare system.

The list is expected to be included in the Ministry of Health's updated interim vaccination guidelines. Currently, a document is being developed at the department level. “The project was sent to Rospotrebnadzor to clarify the algorithm for its application. What diseases will be included in the list will be announced later, “the source said.

It is currently known that contraindications to vaccination against COVID-19 are hypersensitivity to any component of the drug, a history of severe allergic reactions, acute respiratory infections, exacerbation of chronic diseases, as well as age under 18.

According to immunologist Vladimir Bolibok, there are enough recommendations regarding allergology. He believes that expanding the list is inappropriate. The doctor noted that Quincke's edema, anaphylactic shock and severe urticaria are grounds for issuing a permanent medical treatment, while allergic dermatitis, rhinitis or bronchial asthma are temporary. “Asthma is not a contraindication to vaccination in and of itself, as many believe. Again, if the patient takes medications and does not experience an exacerbation, this disease can be vaccinated, “he said.

Professor, Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Prevention of the Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center, David Zaridze, stressed similar rules apply to patients with cancer. “If a person receives chemotherapy, is in the process of treatment, then the vaccination can be postponed. But even a temporary medical rejection is, rather, a reinsurance. COVID-19 does not affect the course of cancer, “he said.

Earlier, the Moscow Health Department explained the procedure for issuing a medical withdrawal from vaccination against COVID-19 according to a new, simplified algorithm. As explained in the department, in order to obtain the relevant certificate, you need to have a Moscow compulsory medical insurance policy or be attached to the capital's polyclinic. The list of reasons for medical withdrawal remains small: acute infectious diseases, exacerbations of serious chronic diseases, urgent and life-threatening conditions.
