Foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel expressed the hope that during the summit of “Big twenty” in Hamburg will be able to organize a meeting of presidents of Russia and USA Vladimir Putin and Donald trump. His words on Thursday, June 29, reports RIA Novosti.
“The summit “group of twenty” will be a very large event, we hope that on the sidelines of the event we will have the opportunity to communicate with you the President of the United States” — asked Gabriel to the Russian President during a meeting in the Kremlin.
He also said that Berlin hopes to achieve at the summit of agreements on climate change. “I really hope the power of dialogue, which will be between the 20 States that will be represented there”, — said the representative of the foreign Ministry.
Vladimir Putin, in turn, noted that Moscow shares the priorities of the German presidency in the “Group of twenty” and will contribute to future agreements. “We will do everything that in our forces”, — Putin said.
Earlier in the day, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that among the planned meetings between Putin at the summit includes the talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, the President of South Korea, moon Jae-Different, and also with the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe. Press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly noted that a full meeting with the President of the United States is not yet prepared.
The summit of “Big twenty” will be held in Hamburg on 7-8 July. Among the main themes of the German presidency, Chancellor Angela Merkel has described the fight against climate change, support for free trade, immigration policy and the fight against terrorism.
