Volodin asked not to frighten the Russians by canceling the Christmas holidays

MOSCOW, June 23 — RIA Novosti. Speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin at the plenary session on Friday urged not to frighten the Russians by canceling the Christmas holidays to discuss the legislative initiative of the Communist party of the Russian Federation.

On Thursday, deputies from the Communist party headed by the leader of fraction Gennady Zyuganov in the Duma introduced a bill that establishes public holidays 31 Dec, March 18 (the day of the reunification of the Crimea with Russia) and 7 November, as well as abolishing the new year holidays.

According to the authors, the introduction of the 31 December in the number of non-working days “will allow the citizens to get prepared for the New year without the cost of working time that takes place in the present time.” As for the Christmas holidays, according to the Communist party, “citizens of Russia in the beginning of the new year remain unpaid and need to return business days in full”.

At the plenary session on Friday the Deputy Chairman of the faction of the Communist Nikolai Kolomeitsev reiterated the proposal to designate November 7 as a day off. “We need to restore justice and in the centenary year of two revolutions to decide the working (day) non-working day and holiday, November 7,” he said.

Volodin drew attention to the proposal and recalled the legislative initiative.

“With regard to the proposals of “the voice” to sacrifice weekends in January and enter the day, respectively, on 7 November, such issues should be discussed with the citizens of Russia. And take here and so transfers to do emotionally in anticipation of the holiday — probably, colleagues will not understand. Initially, therefore, all this talk, and after that then we’ll talk about whether. Do not be afraid by this decision, and then everyone will think that all here want to do it”, — expressed his opinion the speaker of the state Duma.
