The command said that the interception took place on June 19 in international airspace over the Baltic, and evaluated it as “unsafe”.
On the photos you can see the interceptor su-27P tail number “93 red” (registration RF-33749) from the aviation of the Baltic fleet based in Kaliningrad region.
June 20, Fox News channel reported that the interceptor passed within five feet (about 1.5 meters) from the reconnaissance aircraft.
The Russian side, illuminating this episode, noted that it was “provocative maneuver” RC-135U, began to make a turn in the direction of the su-27. The U.S. military, in turn, denied the allegation.
