Russia may take retaliatory political measures in connection with the decision of the U.S. Treasury to contribute to the sanctions list 38 people and organizations. This opinion was expressed by TASS first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Vladimir Jabbarov.

“We need to respond calmly and, perhaps, to make a political decision on retaliatory measures. Perhaps this question will be considered in the near future”, – said the Senator.

The U.S. Treasury introduced Tuesday in the sanctions list of 38 people and organizations. Among Russians in the list are member of the Federation Council, special envoy of the President of the Russian Federation for interaction with organizations of compatriots abroad Alexander Babakov and his two employees, as well as 11 individuals and organizations from the Crimea, which the Americans continue to believe the Ukrainian. In the black list organizations proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk national republics (DND and LNR), as well as of the Central Bank of these republics and the Russian DTM banking (“Centre international settlements”). The text of the document follows that in the sanctions list included a number of subsidiaries of Transneft.

Speaking about the sanctions against Senator Babakov, Jabbarov noted that they related to his work as special representative of the President of the Russian Federation. “As to Babakova – it is understandable, because he does a lot of work with compatriots. I think this was done to reduce its activity as a political leader and special envoy of the President”, – the MP added.

He stressed that sanctions have no effect on Russian politicians. “The logic of sanctions is no, the impression is that the sanctions machine spins by inertia”, – concluded the MP.
