KHABAROVSK, 22 Jun — RIA Novosti. Fifty forest fires over the past day in the far East have destroyed more than 10 thousand hectares of forest, according to the forestry Department in the far Eastern Federal district on Thursday.
“In the past day in the far East acted in 50 forest fires, including 28 lesions in Yakutia, 12 in the Amur region, the Kamchatka, Khabarovsk territories, the Chukotka Autonomous district, one in Sakhalin. The total area passed by fire for days, amounted to 10.1 thousand hectares. It is noted that the bulk of it came in the Yakutia — 9,15 thousand hectares,” — said in the message.
It is noted that the fire suppression worked 270 people, 23 units, five aircraft.
“By Thursday morning eliminated eight fires still continue to burn 42. 27 of them in Yakutia, ten in the Amur region, three in the Khabarovsk region, two in the Magadan region”, — reports the Department.
According to the latest data, from the beginning of the fire period of the current year within the County arose 1,12 thousands of forest fire on the area of 218,4 thousands of hectares. Over the same period in 2016 in the area registered fewer forest fires — 985, but on a much larger area — one million hectares.
