The Minister of defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu has informed on Friday of Russian President Vladimir Putin and participants of the operational meeting with permanent members of Russian security Council about the destruction in Syria of a number of members of the leadership of ISIS. This was reported by press Secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov.
“The defense Minister briefed the meeting about the air strike, the Russian HQs in the area of Raqqa, which managed to destroy more than 100 terrorists, including members of the leadership of ISIS (the group “Islamic state” banned in Russia) and, presumably, (its leader Ibrahim Abu Bakr) al-Baghdadi,” – said the press Secretary of the President.
Earlier the defense Ministry reported that checks information on the death of the leader of ISIS. As explained in Department, the blow was struck the night of may 28 at the command post, where he held a meeting of Isil leaders, who discussed the routes of an exit of fighters from Raqqa through the so-called southern corridor.
