Putin: the President of the RAS should be put forward by academics and not by the head of state
MOSCOW, June 17. /TASS/. Candidate for President of the Russian Academy of Sciences must be nominated the most wounds, not head of state. This opinion was expressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the presenter of the program “Vesti on Saturday” Sergey Brilev.
“It’s not my choice,” Putin said. “I believe that the President should not assume the role of a man who pushes someone and says someone,” — said the head of state. “He can approve, but only after the election of the Academy,” — says Putin.
The head of state recalled his recent conversations with academics. “The fact is, we all, including the patriarchs of science… we have a uniform assessment of what happens in the Academy, and what we should do,” he said.
“We must ensure that science leadership, which would work on the main goal, which would provide us a leading edge in the world of science and would provide us with such internal technological progress in the understanding of the importance of basic research”, — said the President.
“Everything, it may seem odd that to date, these issues are not resolved, there is and our outstanding scientists for their thoughts on how it should be organized”, — said Putin. “I’m with them — not they agreed with me, and I agreed with them”, — he told about his last meeting with academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
