MOSCOW, 15 Nov — RIA Novosti. More than 20 people are being held hostage after an attack by militants on a hotel in the Somali capital Mogadishu, reports Reuters with reference to police.
Earlier it was reported that a car bomb exploded near a restaurant in the centre of the Somali capital, at least nine people were killed. In the same room is a hotel where the only disco in town. After the explosion inside it began shooting. The militants barricaded in the hotel and hold visitors hostage.
“Fighters still Pizza House (restaurant), and they hold hostage more than 20 people. We don’t know how many of them died or alive”, — said the Agency a police officer Mogadishu, Ibrahim Hussein.
According to the associated Press, the police eliminated two militants, ten hostages freed. Release operation continues.
Responsibility for attack was assumed by the terrorist group “Al-Shabab”. In Somalia “Al-Shabab” is an armed struggle against the Central government and impedes the humanitarian activities of the UN. The group made the U.S. list of terrorist organizations in 2008.
