Lavrov met with de Mistura in Moscow

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov met with special envoy of the UN Secretary General on Syria Staffan de Mistura informs the press service of the Ministry of foreign Affairs.

“The special envoy commended the actions of Russia to ensure respect for the cessation of hostilities in Syria, including in the implementation plan, signed on 4 may of the Memorandum on the establishment of a de-escalation in Syria”, – notes the Agency.

De Mistura also expressed the view that negotiations in Geneva and Astana complement each other. The Russian Minister and the UN special envoy stressed the importance of consolidating the positive results achieved in the course of inter-Syrian consultations in Geneva under the auspices of the UN.

“In this context highlighted the challenge of maintaining and increasing dynamics of the negotiations, a genuine inclusive nature and the need for concentration and focus on the subject of the fight against terrorism,” adds Mead.

Earlier it was reported that the scheduled June 12-13 meeting in Astana on Syria postponed.
