The Ministry of health of the Russian Federation proposes to restrict the use of antibiotics
The Agency is convinced that the development of new antimicrobials cannot be the basis to overcome resistance to antibiotics.
MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. The MoH has developed a Strategy for the prevention and overcoming of resistance of microorganisms and harmful organisms of plants to drugs, chemical and biological means. The draft decree of the government approving the strategy, published on the portal of projects of normative legal acts.
As noted in the explanatory Memorandum, the objectives of the strategy are to “increase the effectiveness of prevention and treatment of infectious and parasitic diseases of humans, animals and plants, reducing the severity and duration of the flow of these diseases, reduction of mortality among the population, loss of animals and plants associated with spread of resistance”.
Earlier, health Minister Veronika Skvortsova told TASS that the Ministry of health is actively working together with the Ministry of agriculture and other relevant agencies addressing the problem of antibiotic resistance.
As noted in the draft strategy, this problem is observed in countries with developed health care system, as well as with intensive agriculture. The authors of the strategy believe that the development of new antimicrobials cannot be the basis to overcome resistance to antibiotics. Together with the development of new drugs it is necessary to clearly regulate the existing scope of application of antibiotics, including to reduce maximum allowable levels for food products, and to optimize administration of these drugs by physicians, the authors of the strategy.
Earlier, the world health organization (who) published new recommendations for use of antibiotics. All antimicrobials who were divided into three groups: the first includes medications that are recommended as a priority in the treatment of diseases and massively available. The second are products have in the treatment of inflammation used with caution, the third group of medications that are used in extreme cases. Such a change in the approach to the prescription of antibiotics is also aimed at solving problems associated with overcoming resistance.
