Putin called the main event in relations with China

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the upcoming visit of Chinese President XI Jinping in Moscow the main event in bilateral relations this year. On Thursday, June 8, RIA Novosti reported.

“This visit will become an important and great event”, said Putin during a meeting with XI Jinping during the summit of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) in Astana.

The Chinese President, in turn, wished the Russian prosperity. “I sincerely wish that under your strong-willed leadership, Russia has achieved new success in the way of national development and revival”, — he stressed.

XI Jinping also noted that the intensity of negotiations Moscow and Beijing “in the context of difficult international situation” suggests that the relations between the countries are at a high level and are strategic in nature and sustainability.

The previous leaders ‘ meeting was held on may 14 in Beijing during the international forum of “One belt and one road”.

The arrival of XI Jinping to Moscow is scheduled for early July. The previous Chinese leader’s visit to the Russian capital took place in may of 2015.

The summit of the Shanghai cooperation organization held in Astana on 8-9 June. Within its framework it is planned to sign 11 documents, including the Declaration on joint fight against terrorism. The chairmanship of the organization in 2018 will pass from Kazakhstan to China.
